4 Factors that Affect Shelf Life
The four factors that affect shelf life are:
Temperature: Store lipid oils in a cool place way from heat sources to extend the shelf life of your oils.
Light: Keep your oils out of direct light especially sunlight. Dark bottles can help preserve the more delicate oils.
Air: Exposure to oxygen speeds the breakdown of oils. Keep oils in air tight containers when you’re not working.
Time: Oils break down and oxidize at different rates, but in general it’s good to use up our stock within one to two years.
When you can control as many of these factors as possible, you can
extend the shelf life of your oils.
